ALAS Welcomes New Board

Heartland's Association of Latin American Students board members are ready to bring you exciting and educational opportunities to learn more about the Latino/Hispanic culture here at Heartland and surrounding areas.

Dulce Mendoza Miranda - President

Dulce is currently a Sociology major at Heartland. "I am involved in ALAS because I want to create a safe space for people who share our love for latino/hispanic culture. A place where people are able to make connections and create memories with others in our community."

 Mia Lescano - Vice President

Mia is a Nursing major at Heartland who plans to transfer to ISU. She moved to the U.S. from Lima, Perú, five years ago and joined ALAS to help shine a spotlight on underrepresented countries. Passionate about culture, community, and connection, Mia is all about bringing people together and making sure everyone is heard.

 Daniel Silva - Secretary

"Hi, my name is Daniel. I dream to be one of the best chefs on my own way and travel around the world. I joined ALAS because the Latino American culture makes me feel proud and I want to share it to the world."

 Valeria Díaz - Public Relations

Valeria is currently completing a Certificate in Small Business Management and serves as Public Relations Officer for ALAS. She is involved with ALAS to connect with other Latin American students, celebrate their culture, and help promote events that support the campus community. Being part of ALAS allows her to share experiences, build connections, and grow both personally and professionally.
