The Storm before the Rainbow
by Kayla Rudnicky, LITR 112
Loving you from two pink lines,
Hearing your heartbeat what a wonder the sound,
Watching you grow from an ultrasound screen,
Wondering how you’ll grow, futures unseen.
Woke up, a sad, stormy day,
Blood soaked through,
Love lost as you faded away,
Never in my arms, but forever in my heart,
My baby Huxley, though miles and miles apart,
Watching from above, sending sunsets so bright,
Then a rainbow peaks out, what shortly after,
A gift you sent me, one right after another.
More ultrasounds, more anxiety,
Love, above all, was growing inside of me.
A baby brother, sent from above,
He is the rainbow, you sent mommy,
The rainbow after the storm.
